The Mental Capacity Act Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (MCA DOLS) provide a legal framework around the deprivation of liberty. This course describes in detail the many facets and procedures of the Mental Capacity Act including how to assess capacity. It also introduces the deprivation of liberty safeguards. These safeguards provide a framework for approving the deprivation of liberty for people who lack the capacity to consent to treatment or care in either a hospital or care home setting.

END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT
The end of course assessment demonstrates the student’s understanding of the information contained within the course. It must be passed to download the course certificate.

Students must achieve at least 70% in the assessment to pass it and download their course certificate

Students that do not pass the test can retake it at no extra cost (provided it is completed within 90 days from enrolment)

ACCESSING THE COURSE
The course materials will work on any internet enabled device running an up to date internet browser. You will have 90 days from the date of enrolment to log on and complete your course. The course does not need to be completed in one sitting.
You can log out and return any time up until the course is completed or until the 90 day access expires.
COURSE CERTIFICATE
On successful completion of the course and test, both the student and the coordinator can download the course certificate
